Today we're able to promote our book nl on the information market at the presentation of the Dutch Polish Trade Award. I didn't really feel like it, but it looks like there's quite a lot of interest, and that changed my mind. The second part starts in an hour, I'm curious to see how we'll get on then.
Edwinek @ 2006-05-17 16:18:27 - commentsThey were delivered today, 500 copies of "Polen is Anders nl". Those of you who have already ordered one and paid for it can expect their copy in their letterbox soon.

They gave me the best shave yet. Especially the Proraso is wonderful.

Now the weather is so lovely, we sit on our roff terrace (*gloat*) every evening and watch the world. Which consists for a large part of horizon, which in turn consists mostly of noise barrier. And it's a lively place! About four pheasants loudly vocalise there territoies on a daily basis (after heving commuted there from the bushes), rabbits feed, hares daydream, lapwings snap after insects high in the sky, the heron(s?) catches fish and the cuddly crow cuddles the lamp post. And sometimes cowboy Henk comes riding by. See it all for yourself in this Flickr photoset en!

Sinde about a week, my new, fully functional weblog is ready to go. The software, that is. After a long search I came to the conclusion that there is no existing, truly multilingual weblog software so I went and wrote it myself. Again. And again, it works, it's smarter than my old software, it can do more (four languages and RSS2 and Atom feeds and tags instead of categories and all of it very maintainable) but there are still my over 3000 old posts... I still have to find some way to integrate them into my new weblog, but haven't decided yet. So we'll all have to be patient just a bit longer.
Edwinek @ 2006-05-12 14:04:34 - 2 commentsAnd since Yak has by now received his gifts I can now reveal where I bought them (and also my heavenly Futur): at barber Kox's nl in Breukelen. And this time I didn't go webshopping, I visited the real shop. And it's a real real shop: an enormous selection of razors (straight or double edged), soaps, creams, aftershaves, brushes and soap bowls. Etc. Perfect for every shaver.
Edwinek @ 2006-05-11 09:58:55 - commentsIs anybody working with coComment en yet? Apart from me? A nice tool, it can track all your comments (and other comments on things you commented on). You can view them on the coComment site or as an RSS feed. You can also put a box on your website showing your recent commenting activity. But the best thing is being able to track your own comments. It's already working with many (weblog) systems en, i.e. WordPress and Flickr, and is easy to integrate into home-brew systems (hint, hint) by adding a small bit of javascript. As an example, here are my recent comments:
De Steen der Eigenwijzaen, now featuring a real ninja en:

For the first time on De Steen der Eigenwijzen: a self portrait of the author (with Jip)

I still owed en/nl you this one: the miracle is called Merkur Futur and it's even nicer than my already fabulous 34C. Now set to position 2½.

A not very good (for made in haste) first picture of the knot.

Well, it's perfect, the knot en (see here). During three weeks of intensive testing it never gave up.
Edwinek @ 2006-05-04 12:57:46 - 2 commentsOne of the nice things about the Polish language is the naming of the months en. Except for May they all have purely Polish names, like Kwiecień for April or Październik for noble month of birth. You can read here en where they got their names. I think they're beautiful, although they keep confusing me from time to time. The names of the days are also different, but less plastic (Friday = Piątek, fifth, a bit unimaginative).
Edwinek @ 2006-05-04 11:17:33 - 1 commentsHow about trying en a different profession?
Edwinek @ 2006-05-03 07:57:35 - commentsWhen I submitted my comment at Aargh just now I realised that I had just typed verfomfaaid nl (lit. crumpled) (Google: 999 found) for the first time. And while doing so I noticed what a jolly nice word it is. I plan to use it more often.
Edwinek @ 2006-05-03 07:17:31 - 2 commentsAccording to my chronology nl/en the summer started today! And with night frost as well, very promising for what is a summer without ice (-cream, the joke works better in Dutch...)?
Edwinek @ 2006-05-01 07:41:32 - 1 commentsWell, %@$#%@$#! Been to the Makro (since they have lots of brands and especially because the shop doesn't feel like a clothing shop) to buy some t-shirts. There were enough of those, but all with silly prints on them. I just want a clolour or stripes or something like that, but no. After an epic quest I managed to find two. All the colours and stripes I wanted were available as polo shirts. But I don't want those, their collars always curl up in funny ways.
